Common Ground is a good one. They're on Sherbrook now. Great Yerba Mattes too.
There's also all of the University coffee place's: Degrees, Daily Bread etc...
When thinking of the Italians and coffee you can't forget Bar Italia.
There's also the Underground Cafe in the Exchange; I love their sunburgers but a sunburger always went really well with one of their lattes.
I'm sure there's more they're just eluding me right now.
Hey Steve!
Nice blog idea; I'm always up for a great cup of joe, especially with thesis due next monday!
Anyways, I was thinking that it would also be if you reviewed coffee beans for brewing at home. I've been buying most of my beans from Second Cup or Safeway, but I know there are a few other places (a small shop on Osborne for instance) that specialize in coffee. It would be interesting to know if there are any big differences or if I should just stick with supermarket beans.
If you're ever looking for someone to enjoy coffee with, give me a ring.
Did you post some reviews and then revoke them? I'm confused, the appeared in my reader.
@Mike: You're right — it's (unfortunately) part of how I was working with Flickr and Blogger.
@Mark: The fresher the coffee (minimizing time between roasting and preparation/consumption), the better. Luckily, there are at least 2 (and perhaps 4) local coffee roasters in Winnipeg. I'm quite certain you'll find this coffee to be much better than almost anything you can buy at the supermarket or Starbucks, etc. I hope to blog about the local coffee roasters in a future post.
Also, try to buy whole beans if you can. Then grind them just before you prepare the coffee...
What's that place on Graham? Twist Cafe? Is that already said?
Also, Double D's Cheesecake. There's an Italian shop on Meadowood that may serve espresso, too.
And Fresh Cafe (I think that's the name) on Corydon. They serve cappucinos and lattes with soy, almond, or coconut milk, so that could prove interesting...
Good luck in your search. I may have to join in.
